In The Blood from HADES, feat. Darren Korb & Ashley Barrett - GDC 2024 Live Concert
Another clip from the 2024 GDC concert, featuring two of my favorite people: Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett, singing Darren's incredible HADES end title song "In the Blood." This is a modification of the rendition I made for them which they performed in summer 2023 at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Phil, as part of The Game Awards' 10th anniversary concert.

🎉Yay🎉 New music to check out 🎉🎉🎉
Gracias por esa hermosa pieza musical .
Between Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, I will always have a deep respect for Peter McConnell's work. One of the most underrated VG composers.
❤ it ❤ Thanks for making these events a reality, and, sharing it for everyone to see.
Did like his score for Braveheart.
Horner, not my favorite, imatated Goldsmith quite often. Patriot Games, Alien 2.
Jerry Goldsmith is my favorite composer of all time. I own his music on vynle and cd. Planet of the Apes, the Prize, Seconds, Adrian Messenger, the Satan Bug, i purchased when i was in high school in 1959, im now 82. and when im out walking or whatever, im listening to his music with earbuds. .my history with film music goes all the way back to Alfred Newman, Herrmann, North, Roszsa, Koerngold, so i count myself for being able to experiance all these great composers first hand so to speak. I love Goldsmith's inventiveness. There were actually times id go to a movie, just to hear his music!
devastated. I saw this days ago and got so excited I applied without realizing it was over already😭
Incrível
12 years later, and this still packs the same punch. A wonderful piece of music.
You're doing beginner composers like me a HUGE FAVOR when you make videos like these Austin, thank you so much for the generosity of your content! I can't wait to watch more of your videos!
oh gosh i always have goosebumps, it always happens to me whenever ashley starts singing
Amazing work and tribute Austin! 👏🏽
Okay the 2001 Space Odyssey docking scene score by Alex North absolutely blew my mind hearing that without context and then discovering it's backstory... like just... *HOW???* I'm always trying to expose myself to as many scores as I can, and my brain was starting to short circuit trying to put THAT score to THAT scene in my head. The crazy thing is I was enjoying the music itself quite a bit, it had a unique energy to it with the strings and winds passing back and forth and such. But it sounds so beyond unrelated to 2001, it is amazing to hear about this for the first time. I had no idea there was a rejected score for this movie up until now. Stuff like this is why I love this series, always look forward to future episodes!
I got introduced to Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson through those roles in Critical Role Campaign 1. This has the unfortunate side effect that I had a full blown animatic of Vex and Pike duetting this playing in my head while listening to this song.
Very relaxing makes you wanna pray to Jesus
Whatever works for you :)
my next music kit i will be getting
Listening to the soundtrack after playing the game is like going through the experience a second time. Didn't know I could, but it's absolutely magical. Hands down the best visual and audio experience I've ever had. Abzû is truly special. Thank you for conducting this masterpiece!
Thank you so much <3
Thank you, Mr. Wintory. Listening to this is a transcendental experience. There's just so much on a musical level and on a meta level that involves the musical level and informs the meta level again that I just come apart. But you know all that, of course, because you literally orchestrated it all. Still. What an accomplishment. I think *you* were born for this, and I'm glad to live in the same world, and that you are sharing your gifts so freely. Thank you.
Incredibly kind words, thanks so much!
I adore this series so much Mr. Wintory! Hearing all of your thoughts on this stuff is so incredibly interesting and inspiring. I may have mentioned this before, but if you’re taking recommendations for potential episodes, I would love if you could explore the film scores of composers mainly famous for their classical concert music. Sergei Prokofiev, Leonard Bernstein, Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Corigliano, John Adams, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, etc. all have film scores in their catalogue. That would be fun I think :)
Yeah I've thought about that very idea before!
@@awintory awesomeeee! Love your work as always (both compositionally and video wise of course) :D
i love this game good job
So grateful for this. Goldenthal has no equal. So unique and uniquely powerful. When Alien 3 started with the 20th Century Fox’s theme, only to realize Goldenthal shook you from it, I was hooked and have been a fan since. Michael Collins cannot be watched without his score; but I can certainly listen without watching the film. It’s his best and among the best in cinema. Aside from that, I grew up in videogames and fell in love with the score from Flow. Thank you Austin for the podcast and your beautiful work.
Austin's listening face: -_- (all thoughts and analysis occurring in his head) Troy's listening face: @~@^*$#*&$@#($*@)$&^ (MAKE ALL THE FACES TO MIRROR THE MUSIC) (I know Austin's probably already listened to the album and Troy probably hasn't, but still a good chuckle side by side.)
Amazing!!!
I was late getting into this game but omg it’s so good this is literally incredible
I asked about this once upon a time, but any chance of making downloadable or streaming audio files for all the "You Gotta Hear This!" episodes? Love watching, but would love to be able to listen on-the-go too! Thanks in advance if so!
yeah I will be potting on Spotify at some point soon!
Fascinating insight into Morricone's work, Austin, thank you. I hadn't seen Malena, and the those scenes were scored those scenes was incredible. I'll definitely watch the full film.
Haven't clicked this fast on a video in a while. Love the performance, and love the skill on stage.
Did Austin Wintory put together the orchestra as well? Would love to know who played this show.
The orchestra was contracted by the SF Conservatory of Music, consisting mostly of current or former students in their high-end classical performance program. I augmented the orchestra with a few of my core performers as well.
I need to listen to this on better speakers, the ones on my crappy laptop are absolutely not doing this amazing performance justice!
THAT VOCAL RANGE, HOLY HERA 😱
how is the sound quality of this clip so much better than the concert :O Edit: I was dumb it was a volume difference
How do you mean?
@@awintory I think I fell for the loudness trap as I can’t imagine the quality would be different. I had my system at the same volume but the GDC upload was significantly quieter and so initially I thought it was less crisp/clear before realising what it probably was but haven’t had time to edit/ change the above comment yet after I wrote it in the moment, sorry!
Wish I could attend this concert! What an awesome idea for one! Glad I read the description so I can at least watch it virtually!
Great arrangement! This was a fun one to play!
Everything about this is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for this video and performance!
Hell yeah. As always, thanks for this.
This song still gives me chills. I've beaten Hades and hit credits on nearly every platform and this is always a great time to sit and listen.
when you're so confident in your musical talent that you can essentially make the final reward for finishing the game a song.
Darren Korb's vibrato is phenomenal, he's too talented
You're not kidding. He's spectacular.
So amazing. And so little time to include all worth mentioning in there. It's impossible to cover everything! I wonder what it could have been if you were given a full 4 movement symphony to do this. Wink wink.
Thank you to all involved and thank you for sharing
What a fucking blessing to see this whole thing come to life, damn you're all SO GOOD 🔥🔥🔥
MAESTRO
😅🥰
One of the best OSTs!
Ashley needs to practice a lot before she can pull something off at that level. Not to be mean, but she's really ruining it. Best of luck.
Yeah, no I really *really* do not agree.
I'm with Austin here. You're way off.
LOL nope.. if anything the orchestra needs to practice a little more because toward the end of the song they were all off a half note or two...
I've never clicked on a video so fast. The UA-cam algorithm knows me a little too well. An incredible performance from everyone involved!
